When conducting case study interviews with your customers it’s critical to have a pre-set list of questions ready for your interview. I always recommend sending these questions in advance so that your customer has time to prepare their thoughts. Making this process frictionless for your customer will go a long way towards retaining goodwill for future business.
Here is a set of questions that I like. Feel free to take and use for your purposes.
- Can you provide an overview of your company and your role within it?
- What challenges or pain points were you facing that led you to seek a solution like ours?
- How did you first hear about our product/service?
- What factors influenced your decision to choose our product/service over others?
- Can you describe the implementation process and any challenges you encountered?
- Can you share a time where our teams worked collaboratively during the project?
- How has our product/service impacted your business operations or goals?
- Can you share any specific metrics or data that demonstrate the success or ROI (return on investment) you’ve experienced?
- How would you describe the level of support and customer service you received throughout your experience?
- Have there been any unexpected benefits or outcomes from using our product/service?
- Can you provide any examples of how our product/service has helped your company stand out or gain a competitive advantage?
- How would you rate your overall satisfaction with our product/service, on a scale of 1 to 10, and why?
- Is there anything you wish we had done differently or any areas where you see room for improvement?
- Would you recommend our product/service to others in your industry, and if so, why?
- Are there any additional comments or insights you’d like to share about your experience with our product/service?
Remember, the basic framework for a case study should include a brief overview of the customer, the challenges they faced, the solution that was implemented, and the business outcomes that resulted from working together. If you can stay focused on those key elements and grab some solid quotes along the way you’ll be in great shape to have an awesome case study!
